I saw versions of this recipe many places... suggested serving ideas included serving with fresh strawberries, berries, fresh peach slices, etc.  I served it with raspberry sauce over the top.  Of course, it's delicious just plain!

Russian Cream

2 cups heavy cream or half-and-half
1 cup sugar
2 tsp unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
2 cups sour cream

In a small saucepan over medium high heat combine cream & sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved, about 3-4 minutes.
In a glass measuring cup stir together gelatin & water until gelatin has softened. Pour into cream mixture & stir over medium heat until gelatin is fully dissolved;  Add sour cream, blend well.  Pour into a serving bowl or mold & refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight.
(this recipe serves 6-8)

Russian Cream

1 1/2 tsp. plain gelatin (1 pkg.)
1/4 cup cold water
1 cup Cream (can use half & half)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream

Dissolve gelatin in cold water. Heat until completely dissolved. Heat sugar in cream until dissolved. Do not boil. Add melted gelatin and vanilla. Cool until just warm. Add the sour cream to above mixture and stir until combined. Pour into individual custard cups. Chill for several hours or overnight before serving.  Then, this dessert is wonderful topped with strawberries or raspberries!
