The Trip to the Northern
Region
The Northern Region trip to Wa and Sawla, Ghana was 6 weeks.
In that time, in addition to many stomach ailments and general sickness, 110 degree weather, etc., Timothy had malaria
and then during the last week there, he had a 'co-infection' of malaria and typhoid. He still praises the Lord more and more for
His goodness and mercy.
"Small shelter at the farm.. thinking about pitching my tent there--then my stomach literally tied itself in a knot and ruined my enthusiasm.."
"Worked for 3 hours and then died! --The rest kept working, just as they have been everyday their whole lives.
The family can't afford to send the kids to school, instead they work on the farm."
"One of the greatest days of my life: A small boy was bitten by a snake and his foot started swelling.
We took him on our moto an hour and a half north to Wa [Ghana] regional hospital--at midnight through a freezing thunder storm--to get him the anti-venom. This is the small thanksgiving ceremony, the mother and family presented us with goat and a large bunch of yams... amazing =) "
"My daughter Grace
Perhaps an epileptic, maybe possessed.. the Lord knows.
She spoke very well up until her mother died at 2 years then mysteriously quite speaking one month later. She is now 4.
She still does not speak and still has fits and convulsions and has terrible pain in the back of her head that comes and goes.
I love her and pray for her everyday, welcome to join me;)"
me: "What drugs are you administering to him?" doctor at Wa regional hospital.. "why, are you a doctor?"
"Yes, I've studied medicine."
eyes me suspiciously..
"Sleeping out under the stars in the village on top of the house! Best night of my life--i would do it again in an instant if i didn't have to get malaria!! =P "
"more fufu"
I felt as hideous as i looked!
"Taping up Kose, she got the back of her foot caught in the spokes of a bike..=O"
(she came back each week for treatment)
"Chomping yam fufu -- every night!"
