Great harvest in the Volta!

Just wanted to let you know about our brief visit into the Volta Region last week.

The trip was cut short because our guide Wilberforce had to be back at work.  But with only and evening and a day the Lord worked marvelously!

Saturday after noon Skip preached the gospel to the small village and 13 people were saved and baptized!  We are praising the Lord for his mercy and grace.

The mud hut was quite comfortable, the bats and mice living in the thatched roof kept me awake for only a small time;)

However we ask that you would keep the very small village of Aglugu in your prayers.  We originally thought there was no witness in the tribe but as it turns out back in 92 there were some missionaries through there that established a small assembly.   However this fellowship split due to petty issues, and now in the village there are two fellowships--within a stones throw from each other.  Further compounding the problem, apparently one of the fellowships preaches the word, sings and prayers very well but “has no love at all.”  The other small assembly seems to have some small charismanaic influences and told us they would not accept the new believers because we preached to them and we “helped” baptized them.

Very sad to see so much potential wasted because a group of believers could not come to a unity of the Spirit resulting in selfish division handicapping them from carrying the gospel to neighboring villages.

As it stands the small group of new believers will assemble by themselves, (lest we burst the old wineskins.)

Now we are praying about how we should disciple them.  Attending the training program currently is a brother, John, who lives north of the village in Kpetoe.  Please join us in prayer as to how we should proceed regarding this village.

Thank you for your prayers, Skip and I are healthy and greatly encouraged in the Lord.  More later!

He is coming soon!  --tim
