Today is
a New Day
Psalm 96:1 Oh
sing unto Jehovah a new song: Sing unto Jehovah, all
the earth.
The truth is... today IS a new day. A bright new day
filled to overflowing with bright new beginnings.
From the first amazing minute that became...
TODAY... until the last moment it is here, we have
new chances, hopes, dreams, and more.
It is all in how we greet each new sunrise, you
know? We can stay in bed as long as possible and
dread the day's work or we can smile and open our
eyes to what God will send. In 24 hours, God can do
anything. He can shine a great light, send torrents
of rain from heaven, slam into stagnant waters with
storms, and more than we can even imagine.
How many miracles float or fly right by us during
one day? How many wondrous works do we miss from our
Master's hands? Oh, that we could see beyond our eye
sight and beyond our learned limitations!
Lord, grant that I may always desire more than I can
accomplish.

I won't pretend to live brighter than I may because
more often than not... the aspirations dancing
through my very soul get quietened. Leaking washers,
broken bowls, piles of blankets to fold, ringing
phones and a zillion other things demand my
attention and compete for my peace. Still...
there are times, glorious times, when the Spirit
soars through the flesh and the ordinary can be
revealed to be anything but.
Psa 98:1 A Psalm. Oh sing unto Jehovah a new song;
For he hath done marvellous things: His right hand,
and his holy arm, hath wrought salvation for him.
When my heart is seeking God's fully enough... I
learn to live love. Love that seeks God in
everything laughs through things that would
otherwise bring that same heart to tears.
Making morning coffee for my husband becomes a
comfort, preparing and serving meals mean more,
washing the dishes, sweeping the floors, watering
plants, welcoming people with a heart of
hospitality, and on and all become a gift to myself.
Learn to like what does not cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain
cooking.
Learn to like people, even those who may be very
different from you.
Learn to shelter your family with love, comfort, and
peace.
Learn to keep your wants simple. Refuse to be owned
and anchored by things and opinions of others.
Learn to like the sunrise and the sunset, the
beating of rain on the roof and windows, the gentle
fall of snow in the winter.
Learn to hold heaven near and dear.
Learn to love God, for He surely loves you.

Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall
it spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even
make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the
desert.
Extraordinary wonder in my world: One of the
many: The sound of my husband's voice as he
says nighttime prayers with our little boy.
Little boy kneels at the foot of the bed, Droops on
the little hands little gold head, Hush! Hush!
Whisper who dares!
Christopher Robin is saying his prayers.

Each day is a brand new day. . . What gleaming and
glistening bits of diamond dust shines through what
others might see as ordinary in your life?
The depth of thought in your husband's eyes when he
is concentrating on something? The warmth of a
child's arms or a pet's soft head? New flowers, an
angel sent to visit, a table full of food for your
family?
Perhaps it would be neat to start a small journal of
these things to carry around with you? It is easy to
view the joys of life from the wrong lenses if we
don't make an effort to see the ripples God makes in
what would be the still ponds of our lives.
He can move and stir the waters and give us the ride
of our lives... Sure would be more fun if
instead of lying down in the boat with our hands
over our ears and our eyes closed if we sat up, held
on, and looked at everything from His view.
Isa 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass,
and new things do I declare; before they spring
forth I tell you of them.
His blessings upon you...
