Dear
Sisters,
Blessings to you, dear mothers, this day and every day. I pray this
letter finds you well and seeking the LORD as you go about the day.
I have a message I'd like to share with you today, in light of both
Mother's Day and some of the letters I have received from mothers
who are weary in the work of motherhood. That's why I have entitled
today's message,
The
' I Wills ' of Motherhood
I
can't handle this job.” “I can't do this.” “I'm never going to
make it through this.” Have you have said those words? I know I
have and at the time, I really meant them. And I will likely really
mean them if/when I say those words again. It's been a long time
since I said those words, or felt those thoughts, if I didn't
actually say the words out loud. I pray I will never, no, not ever,
say those words again and I pray I will never think them again - no,
not ever. I will share with you some things the LORD’s been
teaching me through the years. This I know to be true – both from
His Word and through the years of walking with Him. It’s not I
that do the things I do, but Him working in and
through me… so in Him I can do what He’s called me
to do.
He is
faithful and true
and has and will provide
and will guide you through.
He will be with you.
Motherhood is the most precious gift, reward and calling a woman
could possibly have. It is the most profoundly important job,
vocation, calling, activity, work, endeavor, pursuit, mandate,
mission, gift and privilege a woman could possibly be given. It is
above every single other work a woman could do or be given. It is
more important than all other jobs combined. Consider this, that
the God of all creation, the author and finisher of Faith, the Hope
of mankind, the Restorer of the breach, the all knowing, all seeing,
all powerful God would be so gracious and merciful as to allow His
creation to be carried on through the womb of women and motherhood
to carrying on the nurturing of His children.
Motherhood is God's big deal. It's God's unfathomable gift. I
think it's the biggest O-wow in all of creation that God, in His
infinite wisdom would specially design and call women to the highest
calling, the greatest work, the most awesome task: Motherhood.
Wow. It is, truly, THE most awesome task.
Think
you can't do this job? Think the LORD will not fill you, guide, you
provide for you and enable you to do this job? O, Think again.
Think He will not provide all that's needed for the job He's called
you to? Think again. Think you don't have (in Him) what it takes?
Think again. Think other women just "have what it takes" and you
don't? Think again. Think you don't have enough skill, money, time?
Think again.
Let
your conversation be without covetousness;
and be content with such things as ye have:
for He hath said,
I will *never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Hebrews 13.5
Hebrews
13:5 Let your conversation <tropos> be without covetousness <aphilarguros>;
and be content <arkeo> with such things as ye have <pareimi>: for
<gar> he <autos> hath said <ereo>, I will never <ou me> leave <aniemi>
thee <se>, nor <oude> <ou me> forsake <egkataleipo> thee <se>.
*Never
- I will never leave thee; Search for Strong's 3364
in KJV ( i.e. 3756 and 3361); a double negative strengthening the
denial; not at all:--any more, at all, by any (no) means, neither,
never, no (at all), in no case (wise), nor ever, not (at all, in any
wise).
So,
think you are alone and no one cares about how you feel or think?
Think again. You are not alone. With God, all things are possible
and He is your Strength and Provider. You are not alone. I pray
you will see this: you are not alone. The LORD will NEVER leave
you nor forsake you. You are in a battle of wills. You must choose
what you will and will not listen to.
And
the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come.
And whosoever will,
let him take the water of life freely.
The Revelation 22.17
If you
keep your eyes on the LOAD, you'll see motherhood as anything BUT
a blessing; But if you keep your eyes on the LORD, you will
see motherhood IS a blessing. If you look to the Word for
the truth, you will see it and drink in blessings and
you will have life and your motherhood
will flourish. If you look to the world for the
truth, you will swallow lies and you will
be consumed by them and your motherhood will be a path
of drudgery. The Word has the truth for you - the world does not
have the truth for you.
Consider the lilies of the field... how much more will not your
Heavenly Father care for you. Consider the children the LORD has
entrusted you to care for. When you throw up your hands and say I
cannot or will not do this job, what are you saying to them? What
are you saying to them about them? What are you saying to
them about the Word of God?
Start
today, forgetting what is behind and pressing on to what's ahead,
begin today: first in prayer and then in obedience to the high
calling of motherhood. Fortify your strengths, the things you know
to be right and true, eliminate the hindrances and the things that
deny the truth of the Word (movies, TV, magazines, fashion models,
movie stars, sarcasm, anger, relativism, negative talk, thoughts,
music). Remember you are NOT alone. Believe the LORD. He has said
He WILL NEVER (remember: no, not ever) leave you nor forsake you.
He's called you to be a mother, He's equipping you to be a mother.
He will not leave you in your calling - He is and will be with you.
You have His Word on that.
And
when he had called the people unto him with
his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it;
but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake
and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
Mark 8.34-35
Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4.8
I pray
this day, this Mother's Day, will be sweet for you - no matter what
others say or do, but because of what the LORD thinks of YOU, mother
- and because of what He's done for you. I pray you will embrace
the gift you've been given. And no matter what happens this
Mother's Day, or any day for that matter, that you will remember you
have already received the most precious of all gifts: your children
and the blessing of Motherhood. You will make it - because of Jesus
and following Him, you will make it.
Decide that you will follow Him. And will freely
accept the gift He’s given you. Happy Mother's Day... today and
everyday.
with love, pamela
